Tapioca Pearls
Tapioca pearls are the traditional and essential ingredient for making authentic Pearl Tea or Bubble Tea. They provide a subtle sweet taste and a unique, pleasant texture. While often difficult to prepare—especially when trying to achieve the perfect consistency—we have selected a product specifically designed for Boba Tea that is very easy to make.
Preparing Bubble Tea with Tapioca Pearls
Bubble Tea is a drink originating from Taiwan. It consists of a blend of green or black tea, syrup, fruit pearls or tapioca, and occasionally milk. For one glass of bubble tea, allow approximately 30-50g of pearls.
Cooking Instructions for Tapioca Pearls:
- Boil: Gently plunge your tapioca pearls into boiling water (10 parts water to 1 part pearls) and stir slowly.
- Cook: Once the pearls rise to the surface, cover with a lid and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
- Simmer: Turn off the heat and let the pearls simmer for another 2-3 minutes depending on your preference.
- Cool: Remove the pearls using a small strainer and plunge them into cold water for 20 seconds.
- Sweeten: In a dry container, mix your pearls with sugar or honey to add your desired flavour.
Ingredients: Tapioca starch, water, corn starch, caramel, guar gum, sodium diacetate, sodium dehydroacetate, flavouring.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture.
Warning: Due to their diameter and texture, tapioca pearls are not suitable for children under 4 years old.
